Poland Day 4: Idę do cerkwi (I’m going to church)
Uncategorized June 22nd, 2008I went to Liturgy today at the Orthodox parish here in Kraków. From conversations with a few people, it sounds like it this is a pretty typical Russian-style parish: everything in Slavonic (except for the sermon and the Bible readings were also done in Polish), only those just having gone to Confession or infants received Holy Communion, and no one talked to me. In many ways, it was really different from my home parish, St. Joe’s OCA in Wheaton, IL.
I miss my parish family today.
Mark,
I’m catching up on your blog. We miss seeing you at St. Joe’s too.
Hang in there and just think of this experience as collecting material for a wacky Polish/Slavonic/Russian/Serbian sitcom. I don’t have any titles to suggest but I’m sure you could come up with a few that incorporate some Ponglish.
