Celion Dion & Poland

Cracow-life.com, a website that I enjoy using when I’m in Poland, lists of the upcoming Celion Dion concert in Kraków:

“Not since the Nazis and their Panzer tanks arrived in 1939 have the citizens of Poland trembled with such fear and horror – Celine Dion is coming to Krakow! The renowned torturer will be arriving with her deadly instruments (viz. a microphone and some very large speakers) to dish out excruciating aural punishment to anyone within hearing distance of the Blonia on June 28th. The Salt Mines are expecting record numbers on this day. If you have been corrupted by the dark side and simply insist on going to see the Canadian songstress then you can check out www.maybkrakow.pl, the event’s official website and buy tickets. If there is any justice in this world a freak iceberg storm will rain down from the heavens just as Celine bursts into ‘My heart will go on…’ giving her fans their just desserts and raising the average IQ of Krakovians by around 50 points.”

Man, the Dollar’s doing poorly.

Poland’s currency, the złoty, is worth just over twice as much as the US dollar. Back in ‘96 when I first visited Poland, it was about 4:1.

I listened to today’s the Story on public radio. It’s fantastic.

There’s more info at http://trummerkind.com. I just wish I could visualize better how they got to this space from the parking garage. It’s kind of confusing.

At the end of January…

…I was enjoying the warmth of the Southern evening with my friends Mike and Mandy driving on the interstate between West Palm and Port St. Lucie. While some would say that that the beer at the Yardhouse was the highlight, I’d say that the journey was the destination.

(Aside: Currently listening to OneRepublic’s Dreaming Out Loud.)

Since that moment.

Sympathy vs. expectation.
Grace vs. disappointment.

1. Hey, Ms. Sparks, NASA called and the Lunar Rover needs its protective gold teflon coating back.

2. David Archuleta’s duet with OneRepublic was sweet.

3. Who’s decision was it to have George Michael sing?

4. I was honestly surprised that Cook won–and by 12% of the votes. Wow. I honestly thought it was going to be Archuleta hands down.

I love my friend Rob.

And his latest craze with technology.

He loves that I’m blogging again.

His wife and he are a good match.

Good times.
