Maybe this time around they’re trying to take over the world.

When I got home tonight, there were a whole bunch of cicadas on and around the door at home. I was kind of intrigued because I wanted to see how the males make their noise. Then a whole bunch of them starting flying onto me and I decided that not having cicadas crawling all over me at the moment was more important than knowledge of insects, so I flung open the screen door and the main door and ran inside–with a whole bunch of them still on me, and now flying around the living room sharing their cicada-goodness with all. (They were also down my shirt.) Then I spent like the next 15 minutes trying to find all the cicadas that I brought inside inadvertently and returning them to their rightful place outside.
I also screamed like a schoolgirl during part of this episode. (I rarely flip out over bugs.) So, in the end, I don’t know which was more entertaining: me trying to be junior entomologist or freaking out by one of the more docile of critters.
