Heard reference to this great quote today in my Theology for Pastoral Counselors class at Loyola’s Institute of Pastoral Studies:

“Nothing is more practical than finding God, that is, than falling in a love in a quite absolute, final way. What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination will affect everything. It will decide what will get you out of bed in the mornings, what you will do with your evenings, how you spend your weekends, what you read, who you know, what breaks your heart, and what amazes you with joy and gratitude. Fall in love, stay in love, and it will decide everything.”

Geogeekery

So, in a fit of geekery, so I went online searching for more info about metric time and found this enthusiast’s website:

A Guide To Metric Time

In the top bar on the screen, there’s a link to another page hosted on the same site that states “Don’t eat the lies they are feeding you” with a picture of sprouts. Clicking on the link takes you to a page that states that Belgium does not exist. (At the bottom of the page, there are links to other “heretical geography” sites.)

There’s also a link to the Republic of Cascadia, which posits that “the former American states of Oregon and Washington and the former Canadian province of British Columbia must join together as a sovereign nation. Only then can we have self-determination and take our rightful place in the Global Community.”

I want citizenship.

Please call Stella.

Clarity

During times when I live without fear of rejection, without the gnawing desire to seek the praises of men, but rather with vulnerability, with a desire to be a better man, I sense God’s peace and His direction much clearer.

“What is required of us is that we love the difficult and learn to deal with it. In the difficult are the friendly forces, the hands that work on us. Right in the difficult we must have our joys, our happiness, our dreams: there against the depth of this background, they stand out, there for the first time we see how beautiful they are.” ~ Rainer Maria Rilke

“If only it were all so simple! If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the dividing line between good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being, and who is willing to destroy his own heart?” ~ Alexandr Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago
